  • High-Speed Lindows

I'm currently using the high speed link with Lindows. What surprised me is that I didn't have to do anything! I simply brought the system up and it recognized the LAN connection and used it.

    It was all completely automatic.

  • My LAN operated the same way when I installed Mandrake the last time - it was all automatic. It happens the same way with XP now, as well.

What is your take on Mandrake, these days? (I have heard that their new version - 9.2 - is going to be ad-based.) Is this the end of the road for them now?

  • I have just about given up on Mandrake. I have been very unhappy with Mandrake 9.1 for a variety of reasons, I am unhappy with the Mandrake organization for their lousy design, their money-grubbing ways and their lack of understanding of providing value painlessly. I can't imagine going on to Mandrake 9.2, particularly after having used Red Hat 9 in the office.

They promised so much; they delivered so little. What I was able to get out of them was so much work it was hardly worth it, and the system doesn't do what I want it to. I might as well be dealing with Microsoft.
